Job description
We are seeking an experienced Duct Fitter specialising in plastic duct work for residential projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of plastic duct systems within residential buildings, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
Duct Fitter Key Responsibilities:
Installation of Plastic Duct work: Efficiently install plastic duct systems, including PVC and other materials, in residential buildings.
Duct Routing and Fitting: Plan and execute duct routing through walls, floors, ceilings, and other confined spaces in residential settings.
Reading Blueprints: Interpret drawings and specifications to understand system layouts and installation requirements.
Measuring and Cutting: Measure and cut plastic duct to precise lengths, ensuring correct sizing for the project.
Joining Techniques: Use various joining methods, including solvent welding and mechanical connections, to ensure a secure, leak-free duct system.
Inspections: Carry out inspections and testing on completed duct work to ensure systems are functioning properly.
System Maintenance: Perform maintenance and repairs on existing duct systems, ensuring efficiency and safety.
Collaboration: Work closely with other trades such as HVAC engineers, electricians, and plumbers to coordinate duct work installations with other systems.
Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
Quality Control: Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and meets project requirements and industry standards.
Duct Fitter Key Requirements:
Experience: Proven experience as a duct fitter, specifically working with plastic duct work in residential projects.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of ventilation systems and plastic duct materials, including PVC, uPVC, and other common types used in duct work.
Technical Skills: Ability to read technical drawings and specifications related to duct work installation.
Tools & Equipment: Proficient in using hand and power tools related to duct installation (cutters, heat guns, etc.).
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues with duct layouts, sizing, or obstructions during installation.
Physical Fitness: Capable of working in confined spaces, lifting duct work, and standing for extended periods.
Driver’s License: Valid driver's license required as travel to residential sites may be necessary.

Duct Fitter Desirable Skills:
Qualifications: Relevant industry qualifications such as NVQ in Duct work or equivalent.
Experience in HVAC Systems: Prior experience working on residential HVAC or ventilation systems.
